Why did Macri remain silent regarding the “2x1” ruling until the morning of the Plaza de Mayo demonstration (Herald, May 12)? Was it because two of his close collaborators motorised the Court’s decision? Is it sheer coincidence that last Sunday — after Jorge Lanata posed this last question in his Clarín column — Provisional Senate President Federico Pinedo expressed his surprise at the ruling on Telam’s website? Is it a strategy to cover up presidential meddling? Why was there no official reaction to Lanata’s allegations? Is it simply because they’re undeniable? Isn’t this further proof that Macri wants human rights in the dungeons and repressors scot-free?

Jorge Luis Borges once said: “Peronists are neither good nor bad. They are merely incorrigible.” This is clearly seen nowadays, when all possible Peronist candidates are shifting alliances at the speed of light. You never know who’s with whom because they keep changing sides in the blink of an eye. Yesterday, they blindly supported A; today, they back B with the same feverish enthusiasm. No friendship, no loyalty, no fidelity, no reliability whatsoever. Mere opportunism. They cluster around the candidate who does better in the surveys. Unpredictable as the weather.
I wonder if they’re as unfaithful in their private lives as in politics. Well, truth to tell, one of them has recently proved publicly to be a cheater.
Birds of a feather flock together ...
